How You Can Help

NAPE and its participants support wounded soldiers returning from Iraq and Afghanistan through the NAPE American Heroes Fund. More than $885,000 has been given to better the lives of these soldiers since 2007. Recently the Fund has made distributions to the below organizations, with the understanding that 100% of the money will go directly to soldiers with no deductions for overhead or administrative expenses.

The main vehicle through which the Fund raises money is the Industry Luncheon at NAPE.  NAPE Expo LP pays all luncheon expenses so 100% of ticket sales and sponsorship monies goes directly into the hands of wounded soldiers.  Recent speakers at this event have included singer Larry Gatlin, NASCAR star Kevin Harvick, painter Dan Dunn and Texas Governor Rick Perry (read text or watch video of Governor Perry's speech).  Learn more on the Industry Luncheon page under Schedule of Events.

Operation Homefront

Operation Homefront serves wounded warriors returning home through numerous morale and emergency programs with the goal of making the transition as smooth as possible.  They help renovate homes and cars to accommodate disabilities and rehabilitation needs, and they assist financially with grants until VA benefits activate.  They provide holiday gift cards to military families in need.  In addition, they have established Operation Homefront Villages in San Antonio (near Brooke Army Medical Center) and Washington, DC (near Walter Reed Army Medical Center) to offer transitional housing for veterans receiving medical care, which allows these service members and their families to live rent free while they recuperate.

Bay Area Builders Assocation (BABA) Support Our Troops

The Bay Area Builders Association (BABA) builds mortgage-free custom homes for wounded veterans with the support and generosity of builders, suppliers and volunteers. The cash cost of these homes is just $25,000 and NAPE donated that amount toward the recently dedicated home for Marine Sgt. Scott Worswick and his family. BABA also pays for the insurance and taxes for the first two years. They are in the process of expanding nationally, and currently have 6 projects underway in Texas and one in Chicago, IL.

For a veteran making a new start putting their life back together from an injury, an assistance dog can provide the help they need to regain independence.
